Definitely a name in the pattern. Did my best to enhance. Any ideas?



And this might be either English machine-forged variegated Damascus, 2 rods or English machine-forged chequered Damascus, 2 rods; both listed in the Birmingham Proof House Report of 1891 and which I have never seen
