Tre, what a wonderful gift!! Thanks so much! I'll take the Chapuis Royal Woodcock. I'll send you my address vis PM. Again, what a pleasant surprise and thanks (I'll probably keep it myself you know). Anyway, I have had several friends out in Incirlik and Adana, Turkey over the past few years who have talked up Huglu, which is probably why I got that idea.. I had a friend posted to Ankara years ago who drove down to Huglu and bought one directly. SKB and Dickinson as well as models for a couple of English guns are made in that town - there is sxs expertise building there now for 50 years - It's the modern day Birmingham, Liege, Saint Etienne - the whole town is SxS, O/U, shotgun in general. One friend just bought a 12 and 20 O/U in Adana...and took a dozen people from the Consulate over to the store to shop. Their engraving is a little over the top imho...Huglu offers a "Constantinople" special which feature engraved pictures of Sultan Mehmed II as he took the City on May 29, 1453...calculated to outrage the Greeks. But my friend bought the extravagant engraving - then again he's a Cajun driving a Ford F150 with 6" lifts and 35" mudders (and a darned good shot). I'll now take that $750 I saved and start building a fund to get a copy of Sandlapper's 1930's Verney Carron Heliduplex. What a beautiful gun!! - photos deleted from the line but you can see them in the ad below: http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=479824&page=1http://www.dawsonsdoubles.com/details.php?ID=4169And that 16 gauge Saint Etienne gun is indeed staying in the family.

Now hold on now, I didn't say anything about a gift. Besides, you have to go get fitted for one of their guns.

Oh heck if the stock is too long, I'll just saw it off...or too short just add a recoil pad...$25...send it on over, we'll make it work. Never saw anybody in Vietnam complain about the length of the stock on an M-16.

Oh my! Cant dispute the fact, now resorting to personal insult...Ah well, Eastern Canadians, eh? Should be obvious to anyone reading this, except perhaps you LD, that you began with the personal insults. Despite that, my initial repsonse to you was NOT a personal insult. Your reaction was to do it again. The curse of the leftie......if you do it, it's bad, if I do, it is perfectly fine. LOL Edit to add: Gene, sorry for messing up your thread. I just think erroneous personal insults and their hurlers should be called out.

And we all know of Last Dollar's long history of hurling personal insults... Now here he is, acting like some gentleman who has been offended. Typical behavior from him and his kind. I wonder if he thinks he's fooling anyone? I'm not surprised that Argo44 went with the vintage Gertest Berthon 16 gauge. I'm sure his daughter will treasure the gift from her dad, and the consideration that went into the decision. When she needs a gun to shoot steel, she can simply add to her collection.

Guys, I thoroughly enjoyed your comments, even the vitriol and the passion. And I still like that Ringneck. I've been doing Turkey Middle East stuff for a few years. I don't have a 20...the William Evans belongs to my wife and she won't let me touch it to update the recoil pad, etc. So, who knows, I might just buy one for myself and give it a try. And it is encouraging to hear positive comments from people who have shot it.
I'll be hearing from my friend currently out in Adana who bought all those Huglus...for me calling him a "Cajun." He prefers "East Texan"...if Shreveport can be so termed. We'll be shooting his new guns together when he gets back.
Couple of funny stories background: He bought his dream Huglu 12 bore...I told him via email he can't shoot dove with a 12 ...he need a 20 or 28 (baiting him). His response was, "I never shot dove...we shoot ducks in Louisiana." But he bought the 20. I ran this past a Special Forces veteran from Arizona - he said, "dang sure you can shoot dove with a 12." He is the guy who claimed to have killed 7 quail with one shot from a .308. He claimed he saw them run into an Arizona draw, fired the 308 into the gravel and got them all with secondaries. A fundamental belief in firepower and to heck with what's left. Oh well....
