I really like SxS guns, but was thinking maybe its time to narrow down the focus of my collection. So what do you do- but any SxS that you like that comes along, buy only guns of a certain time period, buy guns from a certain maker, or buy guns from a certian region?
Just curious,
Alex

PreWWII 'Hee-Haw Grade' American doubles in "unmolested" original condition. It's a contageous "bug" I caught from Lowell Glenthorne!

Yes, guns with two barrels, mostly.

Brit guns, mostly rifles, high condition falling blocks and doubles, paradoxs, first double rifle soon. Quality and condition is my mantra. Steve

I started at a young age with LC's then went to rug rats. Sold most of the LC's, kept the rug rats. Later started buying M12's. Now started back on the LC's. Lord protect me from more rug rats, but bless me with Grankids!

No. Unless 'variety' can be considered a focus.
Interesting and fun are the only requsites... and I tend to find all types interesting and fun... I admit an attraction to automatics ('Automatic' was good enough for JMB, it's good enough for me. I never call 'em by PC terms).
I try to avoid brand loyalty in general, especially when it comes to guns and beer. With almost infinite variety, it would diminish the experience to specialize.

The modest focus of my accumulation of doubles was to have been a good and shootable representative of all the American classics: Parker, Lefever, Fox, L.C. Smith, and Ithaca. Still need Syracuse, Baltimore, Baker and Remington. Others???...Geo

Yes I have a focus in my collection. First it must be suitable to hunt with or shoot sporting clays. Second criteria is minimum of two barrels. After that I seem to change brands, countries, gauges and price levels about as often as my socks. To keep things interesting I also like flintlocks and blackpowder cartridge rifles. Current direction of drool flow is toward a shootable original flintlock double shotgun about 16ga.

Good, shootable hardware store doubles made in the early years. Also have a liking of quality pumps: older M-37's (pre-54) and most recently a Rem. Model 17 in very good shape (and for $220). Have a pair of nice Model 97's which I rust blued and restocked. Have almost no interest in rifles since Illinois is not rifle country. Enjoy reading about the old guns as much as shooting them. Have a Stevens Model 5100 in .410 gauge, about three 20 ga. doubles, a pair of 16 bore Nitro Specials, a Miroku 12 bore with double triggers and extractors. Haunt the gun shows looking for good stuff but the good stuff seems to be mostly in folks' closets. Every now and then, though, a good one shows up at the shows and mostly from folks not familiar with doubles. Have no over/unders nor interest in them. But that's just me. Chopper

I thought that I had a collection, but finally realized that without a focus, it could only be an accumulation. Or maybe I just have twenty to twenty five 1 and 2-gun collections.
