Well, because I was away and he was away at camp, my 12 year old son just today got to give me my belated birthday present from Aug 1. A new subscription to the DGJ, plus the slip cover for this year. I knew there was a reason I hadn't renewed yet!

Get some guys from this board together to do a series of articles on French guns and the French gun industry.

Nice, James! Mine is the following day (the 2nd) and wife followed my not so subtle hints to get me Diggory Hadoke's Hammer Guns in theory and practice which just arrived today. (and I bought Mark D.'s Lefever as gift to myself)

They now know (only took about 5 or 6 years of rather straightforward "hints") that anything related to doubleguns is good.

Happy belated birthday James. Your son made a great choice for your gift.
The slip covers are a great addition for saving these for future reference. I often wonder what motivates guys to sell their DGJ collections. Since I recently bought that .450 BPE double rifle, I've been doing my homework to learn about the care and feeding of it. DGJ articles that weren't all that important to me 15 or 20 years ago have suddenly become quite interesting.

So true, Keith. When I bought my Lindner last fall, I went back through the issues to look for any and all articles on Prussian Dalys. Also got nicely sidetracked into prewar Sauers.
I let my subscription lapse last year so I am short 2016. But I rectified that this morning by ordering the complete set for that year. And the slip covers are a must. Once I take delivery of the latest, I'll have all the issues back to the start except for the four issues of Volume Two, 1990. I think at the going rate of $50 plus per issue, I can live without that year.
I just wish they would hurry up and get the next Index and Reader published. They make looking things up sooooo much easier!!

Welcome aboard here John. Those brass caps are great. I gave one to my son and he's been carrying it around all summer. I think I'll have to pry it out of his hands before school starts because, you know.....if he took it to school they may have to lock the place down. Hahaha. What are your plans for that Lefever, or have you got that far yet?
