The biggest allowed for water fowl is a 10ga. You're out of luck.

A Gunmaker here in England called Elderkins of Spalding, Lincolnshire (still trading) used to bore out Spanish 10 bores to 8 bore and have them proved. They were a much cheaper alternative to an English double 8. I don't think they do them any more but there are still a few around that crop up from time to time at auctions etc. Not too expensive. You give location as North East; if N.E. U.S.A. then Paul is correct. Don't know about N.E Canada or elsewhere. Certainly legal for wildfowl on U.K.
I wonder if one of those Harrington & Richardson single 10's would re-chamber and bore out to 8 and still be safe. There is certainly a lot of meat on them. Lagopus.....

Actually, I have a Parker 10 waiting to be bored out to a 8ga. Why, I don't know. Guess because I have 50 8ga shells and no 8ga.

It was a while back, but I can recall looking over a Bernardelli 10ga. side by side. I don't know if it was a true side lock, but it might have been. It wasn't really nice, but seemed respectable and I think it was set up for modern 3 1/2" shells. Not quite an eight bore, but sort of in the ball park.

The Syracuse L.C. Smiths on the heavy frame 10 ga. have enough metal to bore them 8 gauge. You can still buy 8 gauge industrial hulls to reload and there is information on doing so on Precision Reloading I believe.

I don't want to hunt it ..I fell in love with punt guns..But I been trying to find an Italian made 8ga. by Tomolini with 40" steel barrels, which was imported by Navy Arms of New Jersey back in the 60s and 70s..I posted here a few times with no results..What I want to know if they was the only Italian company imported?
