I've seen maybe four 16 be grades. 2/2 Damascus to steel but one of the Steel might have been Damascus that had been blued. I've seen a lot of Remington's which are blued Damascus. Not that many 16s to start with. More Damascus than steel. If it were d or higher I'd tell you to run back to get it. As a BE I'd buy it if it is in good shape, not buggered up, barrels good. The usual tire kicking list. Also check the ejectors. By now one spring or both could be weak or broken.

What you don't want is a project 1894 to dump money in. I like them a lot but they do tend to be solid or heavy to some. I quickly decided to not carry a 12 BE I had when I had better fitting Foxes at about a pound and half less.
