On French news tonight, the news reporter from Jerusalem used "gchette" to describe the hair trigger situation. It may be used more often to refer to devices which have a trigger which are not firearms there are definitely gun references too.

appuyez sur la gchette - pull the trigger (get started)
un dispositif gchette - trigger mechanism
gchette facile - trigger happy
souplesse de la gchette - trigger pull
...but also
poids de la dtente. - trigger pull
