I'm really surprised to hear that, Ted. I guess I kinda tho't that bullfrogs were mostly Southern critters.
Bullets from a .22 don't ricochet when they're directed from a slightly "higher than frog" position, into a soft mud bank. Sounds like you were shooting from the bank towards the water .......... we shoot from a boat towards the bank.

We didn't have bullfrogs, Stan. I worked in the summer at a resort on the Whitefish chain, near Hayward, WI. They were leopard frogs, run much smaller than bullfrogs, but, excepting that you have to have a few more to make a meal, I'd bet they are just as good.
We stalked on a narrow sand beach for them, right at twilight. Nobody told me when I was ten that I needed a scope, so, I didn't have one. My Dad was nervous when kids with rifles were around water. I should have paid more attenton to why, but, I was a kid, and just respected his wishes.
In addition to bait duty, I cleaned cabins, mowed grass, collected and burned garbage at the dump, cleaned fish (cleaned a lot of fish, actually) and hung around with the pretty girls who had folks that rented cabins at the resort. We had nice bonfires several nights a week. I also tended bar when the owners drove to the Dairy Queen on a friday night. The bar never had more than two or three guys having a beer, so, a kid could handle it, even if it wasn't exactly legal.
It really didn't seem like work, at the time. I did it for years.
