I suppose I could contact Atkin, Grant & Lang about obtaining a blank and have a good gunsmith fit it up. I do not recall a tight hull fit in the chamber that would have stressed the extractor so I am puzzled as to why it broke the way it did. I was shooting clays one morning in my old side by side. The shells i was using were those horrible cheap eleys with the black case and chinese writing on the box . Anyway after shooting a pair i opened the gun, one barrel ejected and the other didn't. The spent shell was out about an inch and wedged tight in the barrel. The ejector was broken. I was going to tig weld it myself or make a new one from scratch, but a friend insisted he knew someone who would fix it for me. He did a so-so job.

Thank's all. Looking closer I believe I'll have it laser welded and will look for a skilled craftsman to do the work. The repair should be very possible.

SKB, Maybe clamp a piece to the ejector blade, then drill and tap on the joint, turn in a full diameter rod( high strength, low temp solder), then mill or surface grind to the half diameter/blade joint. Then file to same profile as other side. Or- turn to full diameter, offset in 4 jaw, turn small section to less than radius, die cut small thread, drill and tap blade, turn in, lock tite and brad the end in countersink , mill or surface grind to half diameter, refit as before. This is just on challenge, I missed the fact, at first, that it was selective ejectors. Mike

Fair enough Mike......in times past I turned a blank in the lathe and milled 1/2 away. Steve

Eric , I understand now , we have a difference in terminology , The extractor head has broken of the rod or shaft .I have seen these welded but the problem comes in getting an exact alignment , if only slightly out the extractor will not fit correctly . Silver solder will not hold and brazing may work for a limited time , again the prob;em of alignment is crucial . You will not be able to but an "off self" extractor to fit and a blank may take 4/5 hours of work to file up , fit , chamber , rim and harden . To be honest it is a job for a gunsmith and having done many many of these in the past I would suggest you consider the relative cost of replacing both extractors against the cost of a single .

My Grant is now home and whole. Big thank you to Glen Fewless for the micro weld repair. I'll get a chance to work with her this weekend. Very nice to have her back in hand again!
