In the 1940 illustrated Stevens/Springfield/Crescent-Davis Wholesale Price List the Stevens No. 22-410 was introduced as new and had a wood stock. By the 1941 illustrated Stevens/Springfield/Crescent-Davis Wholesale Price List the Stevens No. 22-410 had gotten a Tentite stock and forearm and the Stevens No. 240 .410-bore over & under was introduced as new, also with the Tentite stock. The next listing for the No. 240, .410-bore over & under, I've found, is in the 1946 Stevens/Springfield Illustrated Wholesale Price List. It was priced the same as the No. 22-.410 at $18.50 wholesale, and $24.65 suggested retail. The Stevens No. 240 is gone by the 1948 Savage/Stevens/Fox Catalogue. Those No. 240s must be kind of rare with a short production life and that interrupted by worldwide unplesantness!!
