"My Emma's Jasmine" welped Nov 9, 2005, passed on May 25, 2017. Friend to everyone she met. Her first wild birds were taken with a sxs as were her last. She is missed.

Sorry your dog passed on. I miss all of mine, and rue the yet coming day when my current pooch crosses over.
Best, Ted

Chuck, sorry for your loss. The pain of losing a dog never outweighs the years of loyal companionship and love of having had such wonderful friends. Gil

Sorry to hear it Chuck. I remember seeing pictures of her in action in your posts. The lifespan difference between us and our dogs was a Providential mistake. On the other hand maybe they'll all be waiting for us in the hereafter..Geo

So sorry to hear about the loss of your loyal friend. I fear in a very short time I too will have just memories left of a loyal hunting companion.

Sorry Chuck. I remember when you got her. Seems not long ago, hardly 12 years.

So sorry for your loss. Those who never had a good dog just never understand how they are like favorite family members or kids to us. Time will help but you know in the end nothing helps as much as another pup. I am heading out this weekend to pick up my own replacement pup for one I lost a year ago. I still clearly see her last hunt like it was yesterday. If I get to heaven there will be several great dogs waiting for me and if I don't I hope a few of you fellows will take them hunting for me. They deserve it.

What a great looking pup. My Eva, a Wirehair, is 11 years old and I am waiting for the inevitable. It has happened several times to me, since I am 71 years old. However, when Eva is gone, I will start a new puppy, either a Springer or another Wirehair. A veteran is probably a better choice, and I will look at that option. Bill Murphy in MD.

Such a beautiful dog could only have lived a life worthy of the class she was born with. Such a hole in your heart, Chuck, it pains me to know you are living each day with it.
May your joyful memories be more than your tears, and the rest you'll have to surrender to time.

I some ways the quality of a man's life may be measured by the number of good dogs he has been allowed to associate with.
Still, it is never easy turning those corners and leaving a fine companion behind.
My heart goes out to you & your bride and I hope the next fore footed companion proves as good.

Chuck,
I remember when you changed her name ......twice. You said when she had been with you a few weeks you changed it to Dammit-Jas. Then, later, to Good-Girl-Jas. She will remain Good-Girl-Jas.
I hurt with you, not because I am going through this same loss right now, but because I have, and I will again, and I know how it feels. I agree with John ...... God loves dogs. But, He also loves us. That's why he gave them to us to love, too. Good job, Chuck.
All my best buddy, SRH
May God bless America and those who defend her.

My sincere condolences. Losing a dog is one of the worst experiences, inevitable since they never last as long as us.
Every time I hunt my Uncle's farm it's a bittersweet experience, as there's a high hill overlooking all the fields, draws, and ponds that hold game, topped by a a fence row with a line of collars hanging on it. All my old friends now perpetually standing watch over it all.
Regards Ken

Chuck, there's always hope, the expectation that we'll find a way to get through this, maybe solace from another dog. In two hours, my wife and I will be looking at another dog. We wonder if there could be another Jake, who died two years ago. I'm 85 and it seemed too late to train and see another dog through. We wouldn't make impositions on family members beyond the grave.
A gunning buddy told me this week of a good four-year-old stud Lab who may be available in the near future. More importantly, and generously on my friend's part, he said he would happily take him if family members or I for any reason could not. If he's companionable and of Lab distinguishing tractable nature, we'll take him; his ribbons mean nothing to me. I'm hoping.

A great loss, Chuck. I very much appreciate the day we had up the Cuyama hunting quail with her.

Wish that the shotguns wore out in fifteen years and the dogs lasted hundreds.
The trouble with dogs is that they have all the emotions of humans. And so I grow attached to them. When my car starts getting old and I look forward to its replacement. With my dog it is just the opposite.
Sorry for your loss Chuck.

Beautiful dog, AmarilloMike said it about as good as a person can say it.... Sorry for your loss.
Best way to get over the loss of an old dog, is to get a new puppy....

Chuck, now I'm hoping for you. Good things happen. Today we bought the dog, my first not as puppy because of my age. He's better than I imagined, and I never owned a palooka. I've been reading and watching you all these years. You've the spirit. I'm hoping what happened to me happens to you. I'm alive again.

Thank you to all you tough old curmudgeons and you not-so-tough ones too. The guys I shoot with and did some hunting with came out last Saturday for Jas' last round of clays. She really enjoyed them and coming out to the range on a regular basis. These guys have all shot birds over Jas and really appreciated her field work and affection. Thinking along the lines of what King is urging, I sent an email off to Sonny at Hay Creek Kennel to start the ball rolling. Thanks again for all the support.

Thanks for sharing the thoughts and pictures. That looks like a tough one. Though it was time, she probably still had a bit of that puppy in her that you first laid eyes on.
