Building on a fairly common rimmed case would be ideal. The 30-30 case comes instantly to mind. Starting with the 219 Zipper, 25-35, 7mm Waters, 30-30, 32-40, 32 Win Spl 375 Win and 38-55 in factory loads and a smorgasbord of wildcats, most useful the 35-30.

A fast twist 219 Zipper would allow you to use readily available inexpensive .224 bullets even take downs from surplus 5.56(223) ammo, same with the 30-30 plus there are a number of bulk cast bullets available. The 30-35 will let you use 38/357 bullets and you could have a chamber adaptor made to shoot 38/357 ammo in a pinch.
