At the moment one of the best buys are English 12 bore side by side boxlock non-ejectors. No one seems to want them and the price has gone way down. I've just bought a lovely little 16 bore Midland Gun co. BLNE at auction for 120 plus commission which made it 140.20p. and it was in its canvas case to boot. 90% plus of original case hardening. Hardly used and totally sound. I'm pleased with it for my collection but 30 years ago that gun would have gone for almost 3 times that. But saying that some run of the mill but still sound European over/unders in 12 bore failed to attract any bids at all. As they had no reserve the first to bid 10 would have got them. The ones holding up well are the better grade doubles and 20 bores and smaller, decent hammer guns and muzzle loaders. Hard to see which way the market is going but anyone looking for a double and doesn't mind it not having ejectors can pick up some bargains here at the moment. I was hoping that Diggory's book on boxlocks might raise the profile. It seems everyone is after 20 bore O/U's. Lagopus.....
