In lieu of the NEW Savage Fox, as it appears to be, and given that the original Fox guns were supposed to have the fewest parts of any doublegun and considered a very sturdy platform, why would CSMC not offer to make a gun for Savage as the original gun? Especially at the $5000. price point. Is there something about the original design that would be a negative? Thank you.

If the Savage Fox were a true Fox, why would you pay $20,000+ for CSMC's A.H. Fox? That market would get murdered.
So would the used market for CSMC A.H. Foxes.
This way, Savage can say they're selling a "Fox" and CSMC can say they're they only ones who build true "A.H. Fox" shotguns.

OWD Great question and I'm sad to say, this is a great answer and most likely correct.

Are the CSMC guns stamped with the original markings as on original Fox guns?

The CSMC A.H. Fox gun is a bespoke, bench made and finished to a degree gun exceeded by none, stocked and checkered to order by some of the world's greatest gun artisans. They are above reproach and jewels of craftsmanship.
This Fox nee RBL, not so much. JR

but for the amount of engraving and grade of wood all original foxes were the same inside..........I think the buyers of the csmc C grade should double think the price they are paying.........somebody is making a killing.... 3500-4500 would be a good price for a new made Sterlingworth or maybe even an A grade.....but 20,000+ for a C grade...excuse me.....say 4500 for the base gun....2000wood upgrade....3500 for engraving/fancy checkering.....$10000 nuf said....

You might try buying a facility, staffing an office, buying equipment/tooling up, hiring great talent, marketing and advertising, insurance, meet all local and national regulations, etc, then actually bring everything together cohesively to put out a great product that meets expectations and satisfies fully the customer's desires and whims, at a price that a discerning shooter will respond to, all the while making enough profit to cover all of the above. Once you have actually done that, then you can accuse and criticize someone Like Tony Galazan for taking on such a project and risk. It ain't as easy as typing on a keyboard. JR

On the surface, I agree a lot with the original posters comments.
However, From a production gunmakers point of view, a high grade gun can be made for Not too much more than a low grade gun, and the sale price is exponentially much more.
