I'm familiar enough with them to know Savage built Sterlingworths, in fact, I have two plus a couple AHF Philly guns. The Savage built guns I have, have a square corner in the intersection of the top tang to frame. The Philly guns have a generous radius there.


Chuck, the square corners are used on the late Philadelphia made 16 and 20ga guns. I have a 16ga made in 1928-29 that has the square corners at the head of the stock. A 12ga I have from the same era still has the rounded corners.
