To all the guys who gave CONSTRUCTIVE information helped me come out with a good deal.

* I posted that my Remington 1900 was sold to me as an 1894. You guys told me a 1900 was a lower grade to the 1894. So I was "blue booked" at a higher rate.

* The "Gun Smith" told me I could fire modern ammo to include slugs with my 1900. You guys said no way, and sited a blown barrel and someone who lost 4 fingers.

* The "Gun Smith" told me he fixed the sear for the trigger mechanism. I thought it was normal to fire both barrels at the same time if I pulled the lead trigger first. It didn't make sense to me but I believed he "Fixed" the problem. You guys told me it should NOT fire both barrels.

I took this information back to the manager at the dealership. It's family owned and very friendly people. When I explained my conversation with the "Gunsmith" they apologized for my experience. They assured me that the gun would be fixed properly. Then they GAVE me at no cost to me a very lightly used polished Stoeger SXS 12Ga Coach Gun!

This washes my over paying, I now have a Gun that shoots properly in great condition, AND I can shoot modern ammo!

So thanks's to all who gave constructive feedback. That is why I searched sites until I found one where it seems some people knew what they were talking about! I'm just sorry Researcher wasn't able to chime in to decipher the "A" on my 1900's Barrel (///KA1).

Since I'm not looking to have a big Gun collection, I'm donating the 1900 to a friend of 20 yrs. He plans to put it up in his office as a show piece.

MY New Coach Gun....

Nice story and that's what these guys do best. I found them for the same reason. Here is a previous line on the Stoeger if you're interested - there is a lot of info on line for cleaning up the action.

Glad it worked out. I have a 1900 and 2 1894's. All nice guns. And like you and Argo I first came here to learn something about guns I already owned. It's where I still come to learn....about a whole lot of guns I have yet to own! LOL
