Most Remington 1894 and 1900 doubles that I have come across have had barrels with excellent thickness. My 1894's are very well made, solid guns with excellent fit and finish. The only weakness that I've seen in them is the design of the tang and stock acts like a wedge and causes a lot of cracked or split stocks. When you look at a C,D or E grade you will see that the lower grades are just a well fit and finished but the better Damascus pattern barrels, nicer engraving and beautiful case colors make them as nice a double as any eve made in the US.
