I'm thinking it's about wants, not needs. The job of a gun could be to take up a spot in a safe, subsistence hunt, clays, investment, whatever. A gun could fit better, look better, shoot better, be worth more or less, but putting time and money into it won't necessarily make someone pick it up and shoot it. Personally, and it's a good thing that others feel different, I'd probably pass it up and reach for something else if I were doing more than just trying it out for fun. If I wanted choke tubes in it, why not, there'd be choke tubes in it. I think it was just a fun question about how much different folks would pay for different ideas of utility.

What Ted said upthread: open the choke a bit and teach some kid to shoot with it and maybe to hunt. Once the kid shows he/she's learned safety well and practices it, and maybe had gotten hooked on hunting, give it to the kid.

The kid will treasure it and take care of it.
