Just needed to take 2 seconds and say to everyone that Daniel Cote at the DGJ is an outstanding person.

About 2 weeks ago I put in for a subscription going to my "new" APO box over here in land of sand. It arrived on my desk today and gave me a smile--something from the states to make it feel more like home. Inside the front cover was a very nice note hand written by Daniel.

Being over here in the Mid-East for my 5th tour has made me appreciate the little things. (Like I'm not in Iraq for another 12-15 month tour)
E-mails from my wife and boys, pictures of Ken’s engraving, stories about hunting and pictures from my dad's deer cameras help keep everything real. This BBS and the DGJ allows for a 30 second escape of this place and all the pressures of the job. Little notes from the DGJ editor really put it over the top.

Again, Thanks to everyone. It really made my day.

Dan

Dan, your post makes me remember when I was in the Air Force in the early 90's that my family would send me newspaper articles of my favorite NBA team going to the finals. It really helped me to feel connected.

Come home safe.

Because of a childhood bout with polio I was physically ineligible for military service, and therefore know nothing of the hardships you and our other brave servicemen and women face daily; but I have always been inspired by the dedication of people like yourself, and their family members, who willingly and sacrifically serve and protect this nation. I am glad to hear that Dan was able to respond to your request for a copy of the DGJ, and to know that having that magazine provides a brief respite from the stresses of war and refreshes your spirits. Thank you again for your service; may God forever protect you, and let us pray that our spineless politians, forever consumed with their own self-interest, NEVER make the mistake of having our military stand down from the evil that seeks to destroy this nation and brutalize its people.

I echo Topgun's sentiments exactly. I am a Viet Nam vet and have always felt that situation would have turned out differently except for the politicians and the news media looking over our shoulders. Our thoughts and prayers are always with you; and despite what you might see and hear on the news, the American people support you and know that you are keeping our way of life here safe. George

Politicians, our leaders here and there, have made a myth of those opposed to our wars not supporting those who are serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. I do not know now or ever encountered a person who did not support our men and women in uniform wherever they serve. There is debate and polarization over their missions, as there are in all vigorous democratic societies, and politicians who use our dedicated forces for their own narrow interests only demean their service and sacrifices.

TexasGerd,
A BIG BIG 4th of July THANK YOU from the whole family here in New York City. You and your bretheren are fighting the war over there so we can be safer here. Your sacrifice is felt and appreciated every day...we know you folks are making the war an away game. 9/11 was a deep wound and our thanks for keeping these evil terrorist SoB's contained in their own $#!tbox is from the heart. Also a Big Thanks to your families for their sacrifice.

God bless you and keep you safe.

TexasGerd,

Many thanks for our service. I served in the era of another war when some thought we were all scum. I thank every member of the service for all they are doing. May God Bless you and your troops.
