Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought stupid, than open it and confirm.

That's the truth j0e! I got the AC crankin' and looked over your postings gentlemen - makes me want to put another log on the fire! Rabbit ol'man, duck is greasy and thats why you need a heapin' pile of wild rice to soak it up. Crow is a cultivated taste, and they make fine pets too! Cage, or skillet?

CAGE since crows make wonderul pets, and they not picky about their chow either. Had one as child in Europe, but it's probably illegal here.

Homeboy, nows your chance to post some dead duck pics posed next to your market 10b. 32" Scott Lowell I don't even own a duck dAcoy...only time I've been Duck hunting was with Howard Harlan the guy that wrote the book on Duck Calls. I hope to go this year if I can fit it in with fall turkey hunting. The best I could do with pics is piles of dead turkeys (mostly with a modern gun).....it's okay go ahead and make fun of the "lowly" Premier Grade Scott....it can take it.

Is it still legal to take water fowl without a sidelock?
Hasn't this site brought pressure on your reps to ban the use of shotguns under six figures for the taking of water fowl and upland birds?

Great story, Stan.
Expresses well the magic of the wet and cold game, and why we go back as long as well may. I knew two lifelong fellow waterfowlers, who in the fullness of their alloted span, breathed their last in a duck blind under the open sky, holding a shotgun, with a dog to hand. When the time is run out, I can't think of better ending to the retirement years.
As for duck and flavor, I finally came to developing the fine art of hanging them to age. It requires a real leap of faith and some amount of courage to try the process -- including some memorable failures. However, between aging and marinades, even mergansers can be brought to at least the level of savory browned stew cubes. As well, the better ducks are improved for the process.
However, only experience convinced me, and I have no optomism of anyone trying it just on my anecdotal evidence. In which event, just breast out what you harvest and send to 'em to me on dry ice, overnite express. ;~`)
Relax; we're all experts here.

Gameguns yes, fowlers no! A weighty gun of M/F is all thats needed - very simple and to the point...and no need to talk of angles dancing on the finely struck barrels. Poorj0e, don't be in the dumps!
