Gents, let's say you come across a decent 12 gauge graded Fox that locks up okay but the lever is left of center. I've read that some knowledgeable 'smiths can build up the barrel extension to get the lever back to the right. How about just getting a new/oversize locking bolt fitted to do the same? Pros and cons of either approach? Does anyone have a source for a replacement bolts? Thanks in advance for your reply. Silvers

If the gun isn't loose then don't worry about it. You might be able to shoot it the rest of your life without much more wear. If you keep your gun clean and well lubricated wear will be negligible. Yes, several GOOD gunsmiths can make a new bolt or weld up the current one and refit it to new if you'd be more comfortable with the lever to the right. I use Abe Chaber and David Yale for work of this type. Abe will make a new one and David will weld up the old one--your choice.

Thanks to all who replied. I shoot my guns a lot at clays so if I buy the gun I'll want to get this corrected. Bobby, I will send you a private message. Thanks all! Silvers

The bolt is very hard! It is most likly the rib extension that is worn. It can be welded and refit. Bill

I would have the rib extension welded and refit. I have seen this done two times and one of those gun has been shot a ton with no wear. Repair must be 20 years old and the last time I looked that gun was still right of center.
