Thanks for sharing. What a wonderful time. I'm sure I'll remember it next time I'm slogging up the muddy edges of Iowa cornfields, hoping for a sparse pheasant or two.

There seems to be an extremly small selection of hunting boots available over there. grin

Regards
Ken

Tim, nice when the anticipation is fulfilled as you had imagined. Looks like a great time was had by all. Thanks for sharing.

Great pics!! Thank you for including us in your hunt.

A Clarke? I'm not familiar with that maker.

You guys and your tales of these shoots make me sick.

With envy!!!!! I thought about this and decided I just had to do it!! Now seriously, I love all of the stories and especially the pictures. A hunt/shoot in the UK is still on my list of things to do!!!

Thanks for the stories and the photos.

Tim,
Great report and photos. We see your sister, but not you! Lemme guess, viewer's far left with your dad to your left? You've been a valuable participant to the board regarding the bios of English gunmakers which I have appreciated and thank you for. The day I don't eagerly anticipate a shoot or season's opener is the day I stop breathing. Thanks for sharing. Gil
PS: As to the commonality of the boots, is that a salute to the Duke of Wellington in remembrance of the Battle of Waterloo? wink

Wasn't Clarke a maker from Taunton, Somerset?
I was born in Yeovil, Somerset & kinda remember something about the name & town.
Sounds like a fun time mate
cheers

Nice pictures. Looks like a great time was had by all. A driven shoot in the UK is on my bucket list when I retire.

Tim, were you at Okeover? If so I am the Estate River Keeper. Dogs invariably pick a pheasant or two from along the river margins after a shoot day. If so, I missed your original post or I could have looked you up. Lagopus.....

"It is this anticipation which I find to be important. It is one of the things that those few people who shoot four or five days a week throughout the season miss out on, so I don't end up envying them at all."

I don't know about others but this is not a fair statement in my case. I have guided for waterfowl for 9 years and In January/Feb I hunt club pheasants almost every week. At the start of each hunt, whether I am shooting or guiding, I am full of excitement, anticipation and very eager. Guiding 10 hunts a week for 7 to 8 weeks is very gruelling but it is the anticipation not only of myself but also my hunters that gets me up a 4am every morning to do it again!

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
