It's like looking for a needle in a prairie of haystacks!
I have searched for more than a year for an F.E. Malin & Son trade label, but to no avail. There were two - one showing the Melbourne, Ontario address, and the one I need showing the London, Ontario address.

Resigned that I may never find a NOS label,I broadened my search to include a complete, clear, high-resolution color picture of the label. That is proving just as elusive. Again this week opportunity slipped through my fingers as Cabela's sold a very nice cased 2 barrel 20ga. with the proper label. The very nice lady I spoke with at their Gun Library assured me she would have been happy to send me pictures, had they not sold it 3 days ago. So close!

Perhaps someone reading this might have some suggestions as to where I might search next - for a label or picture of the label.

I have exhausted the usual places like Galazan, and every other purveyor of trade labels my searches have come up with. I have also contacted most of the gun auction houses (Martin, Julia, RIA, etc.) but none have a Malin in inventory at the moment.

I know Malin was surrounded by controversy, but my little boxlock has proven to be a well made, reliable gun. (My research tells me it was actually made by Webley & Scott, for Malin.)It has earned the right to a case with a proper trade label.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know that the rejuvenated W.C. Scott shipped guns to Malin in the early 80s. If you haven't already done so you can contact Gallyon & Sons at sales@gallyon-and-sons.co.uk since they hold the records for W.C. Scott. I got a quick reply when I asked about a Malin gun. They only have very basic info on the Scott guns from the 80s. Of course this doesn't get you any closer to the trade label, but you'll know the date the gun shipped from the factory at least.

If you search Frank Malin Shotguns on Google there are excellent images of his trade label. One could readily recreate a label from an image with assistance of a good printshop.

I thought the same thing, but all the pics I have found cut off some of the label. I think the best chance is to find someone with a cased Malin, and get a pic from them. Cabela's just sold a pristine specimen, so I know they are out there.

Thanks to a Malin owner, I now have a perfect picture of his trade label. Thanks for the help everyone.
