Yes your LOP is too short. There should be three fingers spacing between your nose and fingers when the gun is mounted. Also your arm (the one pulling the trigger) should make an angle of 85 Degrees at the elbow as optimum. FTR I’m 6’2” and use a LOP of 15 ½ “ (fitted )

Thanks to everyone.

I'll order Yardley's book and try the tips on here and see what I can come up with.

Stan, I usually do shoot at Broxton Bridge and I's love to try to get together some time. (once I can shoot without too much injury :-) Maybe we can work that out when the weather cools in the next few months. I'll PM you later.

Thanks again to everyone.

All good replies. THe LOP also depends upon your shooting style. My guess is that the LOP for you should be in the 15-15 1/4" range. You can temporarily modify your existing stock to experiment with LOP, etc.

I also was professionaly fitted. I'm 6'4" with a 37" sleeve and shoot a 14 7/8" stock - single trigger. In my case, I face the target more squarely (Churchill style) vs obliquely (rifle style). The oblique style can add over another 1" to the length of pull. Use the length of pull that's most comfortable for you.

I previously said "You may well be mounting the gun out on your deltoid (shoulder) muscle (rather than on your pectoralis/chest) in order to auto-correct the short stock which acts like a severe cast-off making it harder to get your eye looking down the rib and causes the gun to recoil more into your face."
THAT IS INCORRECT for a right handed shooter.
If one mounts a gun with no cast laterally on the shoulder or (even worse) the biceps, it's as if the gun has CAST ON (moving the brls laterally also.)
A gun with severe CAST OFF (butt moved away from the face) might indeed recoil more into the face, especially with a SxS and with the right brl.
That's all the hard thinking I'm up to for the long weekend

Anybody been fitted at Woodcock Hill? Any other recommendations for getting fitted in the Maryland/DC area?

I shoot with some world class shooters every week. One even won in the Olyimpics in the 1970's.
One of them made the comment one day that "you usually will shoot better with a gun thats as short as possibile...if it's too short your thumb will let you know, when it wacks you in the lip".
Been there and done that.
