My Simson Slug Waffe:

Has this scope (4x32):

How should I fiddle with these dials for windage and elevation:

[The outside rear dial (with serial number) adjusts for my eyesight deficiency-dioptre adjustment(?)]

Put the scope in a vise and find out which turrent does what. This can also give you the distance covered by each click or number.

Windage on the bases.
Elevation most likely on the front turret.

Tinker, the bases don't budge. It has claw mounts (Suhler Einhakmontage or SEM as they call them in its motherland).

Dick, thank you for the pointer. I'll try it and see.

Tinker, my mistake, the rear base is a two piece fixture and can be
adjusted sideways. Not the front one though that is one piece.

Thank you.

JayCee-

I figured you'd catch that sooner than later.

I have the same style of mounts on a Bartels 8x60 Mauser sporting rifle.
You won't need to move the scope much to see results down range.
A tiny bit at a time!

Have fun with it.

Tinker, thank you. I tend to be slow but do catch on

I still don't grasp the fact that the front mount does not move.

"I still don't grasp the fact that the front mount does not move"
You want to change the angle of the scope with the bore. This is easily accomplished by moving one mount. If you needed to correct 4" at target for instance if you moved both mounts, then you would have to shift the scope by 4". By moving only one mount then a very small movement will give you the correction necessary.

Thanks Miller; so being the necessary movement very small, there is no mechanical stress on the front mount.

I have borrowed a laser bore sighter and will proceed as indicated above.

Thanks to all. Now I feel properly instructed.

Sighted in the scope using a laser bore sighter on the right barrel and adjusted scope as per above instructions, i.e. font knob for elevation and rear mount for windage.

After this I inserted the sighter in the left barrel and the laser pointed two inches to the right of center.

According to instructions from the laser maker, adjusting should be done at 25 feet. If at this distance the left barrel is off by two inches at hunting distance (say 210feet) it will be shooting about a foot and a half to the right; not very accurate.

Any recommendations? What may I be doing wrong? Should I adjust in between?

Help will be appreciated.
