I shoot a number of drillings and combo guns and my goto scopes are straight tube scopes mounted as low as possible. I have Leupold Vari X-II, VX-2, VX-1, Weaver V-3's and old Weaver K-1.5's on them and the they are all good for coyotes out to 300 yards except for the K-1.5s and it is on a big game drilling and it will still shoot sub MOA groups at 100 yards. My Savage 99's and Marlin lever guns carry the same Leupolds and and a Nikon DGR 1.5-4.5x20mmm again mounted as low as possible..

After the first shot the rest are just noise.
