I would tend to agree with KY Jon, I seriously doubt if a thing was changed other than chamber length when they began chambering the 2 3/4" shells. This would tend to tell one that Ithaca did not see a problem with going to the longer chamber.
Of course I could be wrong, just as I was on frame sizes.
