I hit it with the heat gun a little bit and there is definitely still varnish on the exterior. The heat gun also didn't reveal much, if any, oil in the head of the stock unless it was trapped under the glue. As such, the head and wrist is going back in the acetone bath for the next few days. After that, I will try sun and the heat gun again. Dry, rinse, repeat etc. until the desired effect is achieved. Again, thanks for all of the input.

If not an oil issue, but one of wood color, here's another one, but only if really necessary.

Oxalic Acid could be an option as well. It's wood bleach. "Wood Brightner" or "Deck Brighter" contain it. If you go that route, a complete restain may be necessary.

Apply it hot, allow to dry around five minutes, then reapply. More coats if necessary. After allowing to dry thoroughly, rinse well with water. Allow to completely dry.

Regards
Ken

Though it raises the grain some water soluable stripper on that stock followed up with a steel wool pad dipped in warm water will float that old stain right out of the grain! It takes allot of sanding working down to 800 then 1000 grit to make them nice again though! Of course that is needed im sure after soaking in acetone for days!
