Which Lindner mark was it for which you were searching? Hammer doubles, A&D Body Actions or A&D Body Actions w/ belts & braces? Some American makers peddled their wares w/ Lindner marks but I sure Charles Daly was the thread that binds them.

"I think Ken to be correct on the estimated production date, say 1877, and it may have been completed or experienced quality control at the old address of 120 Rasen Straße before the move was made circa 1877, when the whole lot moved to Schleusinger Straße 28, a move that more than likely was instigated by the influx of cash from a deal with Charles Daly(Schoverling, Daly & Gales). Here it would seem that there is a changing of the guard between his father Georg Lindner with Charles Daly to Heinrich A. Lindner and Charles Daly. It is possible that the all familiar Lindner control marks(actually 2) have an origin here. Boy would it not be nice to have a gander at the contract. H.A. Lindner was born in 1848 and he should have attained the rank of master by say 1872/1873. In about 4 shorts years he has a plan and a business modell that is centered around Charles Daly so on April 27th, 1877 he takes the plunge and marries Hedwig Trieble of another family of gunmakers. This relationship just about guarantees component sourcing. After he has been made whole here, he controls his own destiny, hence, his own crossed pistols trademark. This is probably is old hat to most but I just wanted to give a little background info to the situation."

I think we're getting somewhere, as far as who was actually in control of production of the guns in relation to serial numbers. Ken Georgi was a great source, I wonder what happened to his index of Daly guns?

I'll throw out a hypothesis and see if it sticks. The OP's gun's serial number was in the two thousand range and carries the crossed pistols and crown marks, this mark being associated with Heinrich, so, it's production would have been after Georg retired in the late 1870's or so. My two guns have <1000 serial numbers and lack the pistols/crown, so could indicate production controled by Georg, putting production in the 1870's. Possibly pre-1877, when Heinrich married and Georg may have retired. Make sense? It also appears that OPs gun is acutally a HAL gun, produced before the use of the HAL mark.

I think Georg Lindner passed the reins to H.A. Lindner circa 1874 and then H.A. Lindner intended to pass the reins to Ernst Lindner circa 1907. I'd like to see the marks of the Daly examples of which you are a custodian.

I'll post'em shortly, I did put some pics of them on the earlier thread I can't seem to find. They do not have the pistols/crown marks.

Regards
Ken

Perhaps I have just missed it in one of the many Daly threads but are there any guesses or information that points to the total output of Lindner's shop? Daly imports of Lindner guns?

15707 is a Scott of Birmingham Gesteck assembled by Georg Lindner & his subcontractors. I can't clearly see the mechanics initials on the 441.

Thanks.

Does a 15000 range serial number make sense? As far as a gun by Georg? There's another mark on the guns, the blurry close up of the one on 707. There's even a lighter mark on 441's action flat, even harder to see. 441's action is clearly different, and is obviously a lower grade gun.
