IMO: Like just about any other collector items the best tend to at least stay even or perhaps continue up in value despite economic conditions. The items that generally suffer in a down economy are the middling to low end examples.
For example: I wouldn't have expected to find a bargain priced Parker AHE for sale anywhere in the last few years.
