Lets say a guy (me) has a Nitro Special that has spiffy 26" barrels were to stumble on a set of 28" tubes and forend from a Western Arms gun in the same gauge. Would there be a snowball's chance in hades that the Western barrels could be mated up to the Nitro without major trouble?
I guess I'd prefer actual hands on experience, rather than speculation, but, feel free to post speculation, if you call it that when you post it.

The two makes, although very similar do not interchange when it comes to barrels.

Along time ago I did it but I don't remember which model was the extra barrels or how much hassle it was.

Nitro Special barrels are not that hard to come across, even with a forend. I'd just wait until an easier to fit set comes along.

While I've never had both makes apart side by side on a bench before, it seemed the two were very similar in the back of my mind. I guess they aren't. Thanks again. Best, Ted

I have both. The distance from hinge pin to breech face is longer on the NS. The trip location is different on each also. I have not checked the barrel extension. Not home now so can't take a look until this evening. The NID is also very similar to both. I will compare those also.

The rib extentoons are different as well.
And the NID is completely different all together.

This is why I come here... to read posts that state the obvious. Do you think barrels from an L.C. Smith or Parker would fit if Ted used the right lube on the knuckle to get them to slip together???

The extension rib on both the NS & WA re slotted to take a wedge bolt which swings in from the side. The NID bolts with a rotary bolt so obviously the extension rib is totally different.
