Here are additional pics of the Wm. Sumner's hammergun, including the proof marks. The case is a period correct Sumners for breach loading gun #4306. I have attached pics of the labels.
The gun is totally restored with very little use since it restoration. It looks like an almost new gun and it closes like a vault. It has a double locking bite. The right hammer seems to be a replacement. It is nitro re-proved at 850 bars and what I think looks like 70mm chambers. I have no measured the bore thickness yet, but they look pretty stout at the business end. Gun weights 6lb 14oz. I don't have a trigger scale, but the front trigger pull is heavier than the rear trigger pull. Gun balances about an inch ahead of the pin. Your thoughts and comments are welcome. BillK
