Put the button in the safe position and the lever forward. As you drop the action into the stock, the lever will engage into the slide. Then the action will seat.
It is a good idea to push the button back and forth and see if the safety lever is moving back and forth at the bottom. That way you can see if all is engaged before you put the trigger plate on.
