I was going through a bag of stuff, you know how this is  And I found a front sight and hood marked C. A. Dahl Any info on him? Mike

In the 50's and 60's there was a Dahl's gunshop in Billings, Mt that produced and sold a line of sights.

Roy F. Dunlop's book "Gunsmithing" copyright 1950 lists C.A. Dahl in a section on sources of supply under metallic sight manufacturers
"C.A. Dahl 1133 Balmoral Avenue, Chicago 40 Illinois (Ramps only)"
Maybe he moved from Chicago to Montana, that appeals to me, smile.

I have a custom 1903 Springfield with a DAHL front ramp sight on it. I have attached a few pictures - pretty standard looking post war build. It seems the vintage of this rifle matches the approximate dates that the others posted. Raised cheek piece, Redfield receiver sight, NS receiver sold as receiver only from DCM, unusual collar around barrel at front of receiver, Pachmayr recoil pad.
