I repeat; Fox News is independent from the Federal Government and the Democratic Party; The New York Times is independent of the Federal Government and the Republican Party. So, in the USA, the original idea was that each side's press would out the other side's politicians and policies and shenanigans. It worked pretty good then and it works pretty good now.
If you don't think the independent press had a huge hand in the withdrawal of US forces from Viet Nam we lived on two different planets back in the Sixties. LBJ said something like "Oh hell, if we've lost Walter Cronkite we've lost the American people" after Cronkite came out against the war.
I ask again, if Fidel and Raul produced such great health care and education systems how come their stellar performance won't stand up to a free and independent press? If it was so exceptionally good why did the Castro brothers need to eliminate the independent press and replace it with a state controlled press?
Your refusal to answer that question strongly validates my argument.
