Anyone shoot one? I've been thinking about picking up a Folsom era 16ga, are these 2 3/4 inch chambers? Where they built on a 20ga frame or 12? Better quality than Crescent or are they the same gun just different name? Thanks guys!

I have two Folsom Bakers, a 12 and a 20. They are both higher quality than any Crescent that I have ever examined. The design is unique to Baker and incorporates overhung sears which are a better design than most US sidelocks because it provides a better mechanical advantage to the sear/hammer engagement. The materials and workmanship seem to be first class. I have never owned a 16 gauge, so I don't know about chamber length on that one.

I've been digging around for the thread that discussed the whole Baker-Crescent issue, but it's been a while so I can't find it. I'll give you a synopsis, but I'd rather you'd been able to read the explanations of those who had done the actual research. Here's a thread that is also relevant. http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=446481&page=1www.bakercollectors is the best place for overall information. A quick explanation is that Folsom bought Baker and moved the production line to the Crescent factory. The guns were always kept separate and should not be confused.
I prefer wood to plastic, leather to nylon, waxed cotton to Gore-Tex, and split bamboo to graphite.

The Folsom made Bakers probably had shorter than 2 3/4" chambers in all gauges. The 16 ga. frame was a nice one and smaller than the 12 ga frame.
