For me the glas and the CA are entirely different solutions for different situations.
Over the years I've used a variety of glas stuff and Acraglas has seemed the easiest since they did the no sag stuff. Complex inletting like a Perazzi can be challenging but actually the prep time is well worth the result. Perazzis are known for breaking stocks in the inletting and that is due to the meatheads thinking that one size fits all and just cram them onto any gun at hand and expect them to fit. Which they don't of course but it does supply a wide selection of stocks at cut rate prices for anyone who can fix the things hahaha
So the last one I did was exceptional. It had been massively cracked - I mean THREE large cracks well over an inch deep. Un - be - liev - a - ble!! And it had been glas-ed and then broken again. How that came to be staggers the imagination. So it became a two step cure. First I hogged out the poorly done and broken glas. There was even a nail in there to "reinforce" (I guess) the glas. At that point the cracks were obvious and accessible so I wedged them open poured in the CA and then clamped the things shut. I gave that a day to set and did some more excavation with the Dremel and got the action prepped. The inletting is complex enough that I usually glas them in at least two operations. Which is no big deal since I work for free for myself. At any rate, I prolly used more glas in that thing than it would take to bed most rifles but it is now likely bombproof. Tho I'm certain that some trapshooter idiot could find a way to break it.

so anyway if you want to reinforce the head before it breaks I say glas is the only way. And thicker is better than thinner. Personally I'd gouge out at least 1/8" to fill with the glas, leaving just enough wood around the edges to retain the glas. Remember - the glas is stronger than the wood you take out and the great area you have for bonding the better. And like was mentioned, the wood has to be clean or you waste your time/$. If you want to kill a crack then CA may be the best option but clean is still essential.
The moral is that there ain't hardly anything beyond fixing if you care to take the time to do it right.

have another day
