James, Thanks for the explaination. I'm often stunned at what goes right over people's heads. While ignorance is correctable, stupidity is, unfortunately, forever.
We missed you, by the way.
Best, Ted

I believe It was Tweak, not Butters.
I prefer wood to plastic, leather to nylon, waxed cotton to Gore-Tex, and split bamboo to graphite.

Sucks having to explain one's own joke. Happy to step in and do the honours for you, Ted. I missed being there and hope you and Lloyd don't give up on me in the future.
Got out yesterday quickly for a preserve shoot. 20 min from my house. Low key, unorganized, 300 acres by myself with Scout. Lovely hunting weather. The perfect preserve shoot. Used a nice little Belgian Pieper 16 with Gamebore 21/2" shells. First time it's taken birds down since a full restoration. It's not a light 16 at 6lb 10 oz, but well balanced with 29" barrels. Quite pretty. I like it!
A very nice day and now to decide how to cook the pheasant and chukar. Scout's lying around wondering why we aren't back there today. Lol

Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail is the perfect movie for a cold, snowy January day. If you do not laugh from beginning to end, you have absolutely no sense of humor! Tied at the top with Mel Brook's Young Frankenstein. Lloyd3 & Ted, sounds like a perfect hunting vacation!!

Eric, we must have similar senses of humour. The two movies I laughed hardest at when they first came out were Life of Brian and Blazing Saddles. Don't know how they stand up as I haven't watched them start to finish since but I nearly choked to death in both.
Hope you and your guns arrive safely home Lloyd.

Yes to Young Frankenstein. Best Mel Brooks movie, along with Blazing Saddles and Springtime for Hitler. Terri Garr with the "great knockers" and Cloris Leachman as Frau Bluker- and the pair of neighing horses rearing up in their traces. What a genius Mel Brooks- and married to the late hot babe Anne Bancroft--But my favorite all-time spoof movie is "Animal House" followed by "The Blues Brothers"

Thanks- I missed that one on Monty Python-- best put down of the French came from "Murder By Death" spoof on film noir detective stuff from the 1950's-- Peter Sellers as Charlie Chan character, James Cocoa as Belgian detective Hercule Poirrot, and Peter Falk as a Sam Spade character. Mid-way through the movie, Falk tells Cocoa "Up Yours, Frenchie!" and Cocoa replies- "I'm not a Frenchie, I'm a Belgie!"-- And Truman Capote as Lionel Train, the fay host for the week-end romp in his castle-- and David Niven as Nick Charles exclaiming to wife Maggie Smith--when told they would be staying in a room with a Chinese flavor- "We're in the Wang Wing"--damn good stuff indeed.

Just walked in the door. What it took me two days to accomplish in an old Ford pickup, Delta Airlines did in about 5 hours. You must put up with all of the heavy controls (Big Brother!) and costs, not to mention all the congestion at the big airports, but it is undeniably a much more time-efficient way to go. Haven't opened the case yet but the guns appear to be unmolested. Pictures to follow shortly.

It was green, warm, and fairly wet upon my arrival. No matter. This is a sight that I never get tired of.

A little later that day. God Bless old Fords and even older English boxlocks. Not sure why, but most birds fan their tails immediately after their last convulsions. Sad but beautiful.
