It was a nice event. Targets were good. Nice facility. Weather was great on the weekend. Enjoyed soft shell crabs and crab cakes for lunch at the club and the seafood on the waterfront nearby. 117 entrants according to Winscore.

We had a big time. The weather was great. There were separate courses for the big and small bore preliminary events, and then a separate 16-station course for the main event. Hopkins also had 2 five stands, a rifle range and a have-a-go stand. As others have said, the targets were outstanding. Couldn't have asked for more.

Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

Out on the courses:

And at the Flurry event:

Come join the fun next year, same place, same weekend! ----Matt

Just wondering, spoke to a vendor who was there and said did not do well selling and the same for some others. Did anybody see if much sales were happening? Did any of you guys buy any guns?

John,
I have friends who bought 3 guns, a Woodward SLE, a Ford 20 hammer and a Fox 20. A dealer friend sold 2.
Covey Rise was selling subscriptions to their magazine. I believe a lot of folks signed up. I did.
RST seemed to sell a lot of shells. They were my first stop for a flat of 8s for the flurry event. Several in my group stocked up on multiple flats since we won't see RST again until the Southern SxS in April.
Kevin Jones owner of BEST a vest maker in Australia was displaying his line of shooting vests. I bought a new vest. At least 6 my chapter either bought or ordered custom fit vests. I am pretty sure Kevin had a good show. His vests are used by the Australian Olympic Shooting Teams.
I can't say how the other dealers did. Some of the bigger dealers had been at Orvis the weekend before. That may have lowered the traffic for this event.
There were just over 100 shooters. I'd say it was a good turnout and an event worth returning to next year.
The rifle shooters all enjoyed the events. The German gun collectors are already planning to shoot their drillings and cape guns next year, rather than just display them. I think the rifle event will grow next year.
And for the second time, I loaded for the Flurry team that beat me.

I had fun.

Joe

I didn't go, but I talked to some of the vendors and shooters. Shooters said it was a nice shoot, not great not bad. The vendors that I talked to were disappointed with the turn out and not many sales. Be interesting how it goes next year, this year with the Vintagers scheduling their shoot on the same weekend as Rock Mt shoot split the shooters and the gun collector clubs, very bad move on the Vintager's part as they knew the Rock Mt was already scheduled and decided to use that same weekend anyway (can we say egos got in the way). Hopefully this does not happen in the future.

It's called "Cannibalizing".
It's a marketing nightmare.
I feel sorry for the competing factions involved.
Neither will win.

Out there doing it best I can.
