Just unscrew it and throw it away. You don't really need sights on a shotgun and shouldn't be looking at them if you do have them.
No, you should not be looking AT it while shooting, but it does give a more accurate reference to establish lead than a barrel without one, IMO. Your subconscious sees that bead as the reference point for establishing lead, I believe.
Would you go so far as to say that a rib is not an aid to good shooting either, and that a ribless barrel without a bead can be shot just as well as a barrel with a rib and a bead?
