I use Prussian Blue for fitting wood to metal. I use a kerosene lamp for fitting metal to metal. I can get a better fit when smoking parts together.

I bought a little "alcohol lamp" on ebay for like $4.95. CHeck it out and you will fins a lot of them. I guess theuy were for folks who use hot knives to work wax or something. My dentist has one for heating gutta percha fillings. I use kerosene, not alcohol, in mine.
