Smokeshot, why would you think any steel would loose it's strength because of age?
In brief, I wouldn't think that. A discussion with a friend the other day turned to the safety of shooting antique firearms. He (correctly) pointed out that an antique firearm can't simply be fired without inspecting it for safety issues, and that some guns have been lost to pitting and corrosion related weakness. I wanted to pose the question and see if I was missing anything, because I would really like to shoot some antique doubles of varying calibers at the loads they were originally designed to shoot.
