I also have a W Richards with Birmingham proofs that appears to be virtually identical to this one. Mine also has bores which were proofed @ 14 but has 12ga chambers. These were however built prior to the chamber markings so hard to say if they were originally 14 gauge & have had the chambers opened to 12 or not.
The one I have is in quite poor condition, but I keep it because it belonged to my Grandfather. I have no idea at what point in his life he acquired it. The bores on mine currently check very close to 13 gauge & both are cylinder bored, thus do not carry the Not For Ball mark.
