Exploding targets and other such fun targets bring back such great memories of shooting pranks. Many years ago I had half a dozen clay targets made out of aluminum. They were painted to look just like normal targets. We would put one of them in the stack and wait until some poor fellow shot one. They would give off a ping, move to the side, flutter and fly on. We thought it was grand fun.

Many years before that, when skeet traps were cocked and loaded by hand, a dollar tip would get the trap boy to put a special clay target on the skeet arm which we had filled the bottom with lamp black, covered with black construction paper glued to the rim. You'd wait until shooting high eight and drop your bird onto the arm. When hit it would generate a cloud of black which covered everything under it. Those in on the gag would edge away before the target came out of the trap house. What a mess that made and the howls of laughter would go on and on. All in good fun but sure to cause the shooter to figure out a fair payback if he could ever figured out who set him up.
