There's nothing on the gun to indicate this is anything but a regular Savage model 220. It a 12ga. No date code or S.N. so it is pre 1949..Geo

Notice the etched decoration on this 220 is the same as on the Model B in the OP...Geo

Those scenes on the bottom of the earlier Fox Model B were acid etched. I think the later Fox head scene on the bottoms of the Model B were roll-stamped --

Engraving, acid etching and roll-stamps can all eventually wear away!!

I had a 219-220? that was etched or whatever, with a very fancy hunk of wood on it, Monte Carlo cheekpiece stock, BT forend it was a .410 with a 22 hornet bbl as well. Stolen years ago..sorry no pics...

The 220's were also factory fitted with either a Polychoke or Savage's own Adjustable Choke.

A 219/220 I had and gave to one of of my sons was 30-30 and 16ga. The shotgun barrel had a Poly-choke on it. Handled like a pig on a shovel...Geo
