It sure would have been nice if David would have stocked my 32 after Arnold got finished with the engraving. Unfortunately, I sold my stash of graded 32 wood years ago and will have to restock the Griebel gun at great expense. Yes, David, the book is in good hands. It is now part of the "package" along with the wonderful little 32. Bill Murphy

What historians call "Primary Sources" are invaluable in placing an individuals place in the history of whatever topic is under scrutiny. Both of the the above gentlemen qualify not only based on their own places, but the places of people that they have worked with over the years. I too urge them to record as much as they can of thier and others experiences. Now we just need a repository. This forum perhaps. Others may have suggestions also for the archiving of such information. The gunsmith program at Trinidad perhaps, as a traditional repository of such info.Regards to all especially Maestros Ken and Xchisels.

DT, by the way, the Griebel Remington 32 is not a mere gun show acquisition. I came by it honestly. It was given to me by a good friend who just has too much of that kind of stuff and thought I would enjoy it as much as he had.

Bill, I have just returned from "Under the Workbench" Storage of such treasures as Herr Grieble's Photos, Personal letters to'Self' and Clients letters, But I have AG's Brochure for Services, with Photos. There is a list of Clients Names who I knew with AG engraved Guns. If the 'old memory bank kicks in, AHHH..yes, Barry L Hands has a couple of my 'B&W' prints...The last Winch. 21 Arnold was engraving for my Client. when he Died.I actually had to remove it from his bench vise, unfinished!I then sent it to Lynton'Bazza' Mckenzie in New Orleans, and he finished the job,and signed the end of the trigger plate. I have a couple of 4x5" b7w negs. of a Rem 32!!!One of the most beautifull jobs that I had of Arnolds in my W/Shop was a Parker 28bore that he engraved for Marshall Fields Dept'store in the 1950s. John Amber (The)had something to do with putting into Arnolds engraving-Vise.If I post the Sr No. maybe 'One Of The Brethren of the Brotherhood would know its whereabouts? (IHeard that it may have gone 'Overboard' off the West Coast of Florida!!!)Who was the"Wag" who said,"There is no future, without the Past"?....cc/dt

Gentlemens: I just know the suspense is killing you so I thought I'd give an update on the fancy Fox. Although there is still much wailing and gnashing of teeth about the engraving, we have come to a decision on what wood to use for the handle. Mayhaps Mr. Mann will be kind enough to post a pitcher of it, as it is in his custody. Regards, Glenn

Yup, I've seen that great Super before and pushed you to buy another or two. My favorite unembellished Grade 1 is serial number 1253, very close to yours. David, would you or could you send a picture of the picture you have of one of Arnold's 32's in case it is mine? Thanks so much for being interested. Bill Murphy

Mr. Hands:
I am guessing that this is not the first time you have done this sort of work...
Very nice indeed.
