What I know about doubles is that they have two barrels. There, done. But, being picky, it should be Birmingham Small Arms.

I just bought the gun and do not have it in hand yet. I will post pictures of the information on the flats when I can...Geo

I'm probably seeing it wrong, but it has the look like two different 'hands' got in on the engraving. Maybe a bit of refinishing or freshening up. Just guessing out loud. Congrats on the new gun.

I had one that was a Deluxe, but it did not have that much engraving. Don't think I've ever seen a fancier BSA. Proofmarks will help, but I'm guessing early to mid-20's.

What I do know. Both Haddoke and Weiland give BSA short shrift in their books "The British Boxlock..." and "Vintage British Shotguns". However both do say the shotguns were manufactured from 1920 into the '30s, and that they represent solid dependable boxlock guns.
Wieland says there were three grades from the utilitarian blued framed un-engraved extractor version I have seen before to a mid grade extractor with some engraving and a top grade fully engraved with ejectors. The gun in question seems to be the third variation...Geo

Pretty gun, George. 12 bore? Weight? Barrel length?
Socialism is almost the worst.

A 1937 B.S.A. catalogue in my collection illustrates a similar gun described as their," Ejector Model De Lux ",priced at 22 pounds, as compared to their standard model at 18 pounds,10 shillings. The other possibility is that based on the action profile that it is a version of their wildfowl ejector gun that sold for 20 pounds. B.S.A also sold a Special game model that sold for 25 pounds, these guns have profuse rose and scroll engraving.
