I like mine. I freely admit they aren't for everybody (are you still here, Larry?) but, one that fits can be a delight.

I regard a Bretelle Darne highly. They are nice slings, wider than the "Automatique" that everyone talks about, more comfortable, and therefore more useful. I sent Geoffroy on a mission to bring a 28 gauge version home for my V19 when he was in France this summer. It was harder than it looked. The assembly is a mix of new and used parts, and, of course, it must be fitted to the gun, the fitting engraved and hardened, the screw contoured,
hardened, engraved, and fitted, and there really isn't anything that was inexpensive about the project.

The days of pulling this off, even for those that know the ropes, are quickly drawing to an end, I'm afraid.

A pity.
