I always use a hard case for my most used guns. They get cleaned after use. They go into the hard case ungreased. It is a simple thing to apply a tiny bit of grease to the trunnions or hinge pin and hook, the knuckle, etc. when I assemble it just prior to shooting. I cannot understand how it could be forgotten. You create a routine, just like brushing my teeth before my morning coffee.

When I take a hunting gun to the field it goes in a soft case. It is assembled, so it is already greased. I can't see what's hard about remembering to grease a doublegun before you assemble it.

If you will use a little syringe filled with the grease you can do it in a few seconds. All this preoccupation with tins and bottles, in order to be "traditional" is beyond me.
