May all of you be blessed with a great day today as we celebrate the seemingly impossible events by which a loose coalition of colonists defeated the greatest standing army in the world and won their(our) independence. I am still amazed when I think about what they accomplished, with so little. I am afraid we are so removed from what it was like to live under tyranny that we do not appreciate what we have.
Thanks to all who serve, and have served, our nation to secure and preserve our freedom. It is precious, and worth sacrifice.
May God bless America, again.

Very well said Stan!!! While we've had are share of problems over the last 240 years, the Republic has survived and will survive I hope until the end of time. Not once since this great nation was established has there been any overthrow, coup or forceful takeover of the elected government. No tanks on the streets in Washington, no rule by decree, just a peaceful transition of power. That tells me that this country was ordained by God. I only trust we can still maintain that trust.
My number 1 son is now in the Army and his reason for joining was to defend and help protect this great nation, I'm damn proud of him for that.
So, thanks Stan, Happy Birthday America and may God Bless her.

Greg, young men like your son (and women), who stand up when they don't have to and who know that they may well end up serving somewhere dangerous, give me hope for the future of our country every time I find myself worrying about it. Please give him my thanks for his service!
This great nation has weathered very serious problems in the past. I'm betting she'll continue to weather them in the future.
